The Parque Industrial Seguro (PIS, Secure Industrial Park) program of the Mexican Association of Private Industrial Parks (AMPIP) recognizes industrial parks that meet world-class security standards. Today, security is one of the main factors for companies deciding to invest in Mexico.
For each standard, the program sets mandatory and recommended criteria based on the park’s classification: under construction or in operation, open or closed.
The program references standards such as ISO 28000, ISO 31000, ISO 22301 and ISO 27001, as well as Mexican standards NMX-R-046-SCFI-2015 (industrial parks) and NMX-W-188-SCFI-2021 (supply chain security).
The program grants three distinctions:
To receive the compliance opinion, the park must meet 100% of the mandatory criteria of each sub-standard. At the end of the verification, COVA delivers a detailed report of recommendations, whether or not the opinion is granted.
7 of the 10 PIS standards are aligned with CTPAT’s minimum security criteria. For CTPAT-certified tenants, the park is a business partner whose security is part of their own supply chain, especially in:
Within the park: certification is multidisciplinary and involves general management, sales and marketing, purchasing, finance, human resources, maintenance, security and IT.
